Well the new season is finally here.   Delaney started the new season off very strong.   She went out on the pole of the second Heat Race and   she quickly jumped out front and established a big lead as she was hooked up on an already drying out track.   She was never seriously challenged managing to build big leads again after two separate cautions to take the checkers for her first heat win of the year.   Delaney went out on the outside of the front row for the Trophy Dash.   She settled into to second position as the pole setter lead from green to the checkers and Delaney finished second.   She went out for the A-Feature on the outside of the front row again.   The track was dry slick and she had a tight race car.   She managed to hold onto the fourth position for several laps, but the car continued to get tighter and tighter in turns 1 & 2.   She continued to fall back finishing in the eighth position.   Overall a great start to the season and lots of good things to come!!!

Apr 14

Happy Birthday to Delaney!!!   GFR had another good night at the races!   Delaney went out on the inside of row two for her Heat Race.   She got a good start and and settled into the second position as the track was tacky and fast.   She fought off several challenges from the 22 car to come home in second place.   She went out for the Trophy Dash on the outside of the second row.   Again the track was tacky and fast.   She was able to pass the 88 car but   it was just tough to challenge for positions and she finished second.   For the A-Feature, she went out on the outside of row three.   The track continued to be tacky and fast.   The track didn't change much all night and it was the type of track that made it tough to pass anyone.   Delaney settled into the fifth spot, held off several challengers and challenged the fourth spot several times.   There was a big hole/rut in turn 1 & 2 that she kept hitting.   It upset the car pretty good and she had several close calls with the wall as she exited turn two.   She said she kept that line cause she was faster, but every once in awhile she caught it just right and it really upset the car.   On the white flag lap she actually tagged the wall, but kept it straight and never lifted.   We were very proud of her effort!   She continues to demonstrate good car control and good decisions on the track!

Girl Force Racing had another good night of racing.   Since I'm deployed these recaps will be much shorter as I only get a few details of each race.   Delaney started on the outside of the front row for her heat race.   She didn't get a great start and fell into third place.   She was able to make the pass to take second, but didn't have anything for the 88 car.   She went out for the Trophy Dash on the outside of the second row and brought the 25 car home in the third position.   For the A-Feature, she went out on the outside of row three.   Delaney didn't make to many moves as she was loose.   She worked her way up to the fourth position coming to the checkers when the second and third place cars got together and she was able to avoid them and come home in second place.   All in all a great night of racing!   Congrats to Shayla in the 88 car for her sweep of the Heat, Trophy and A-Feature!

Apr 28

This was a great night of racing for Delaney!!   Delaney started her heat race on the outside of row three.   She had a fast car and worked her way up to the third position before the checkers, but just not enough laps to get to the front.   She started on the outside of the fifth row for the A-Feature.   She worked the low line for the majority of the race making a pass for the lead with five to go only to have the caution come out.   On the restart, she was lined up in second place and it was only matter of time before she would challenge the 8 car for the lead and sure enough, going into turn 3&4, she got under the 8 car and completed the pass and pulled away to take her first A-Feature win of the year and by far her most impressive win coming from the back!!!

May 5

Rained out.

May 12

Delaney continues her strong start to the season!   She went out for her heat race on the inside of row three.   She was able navigate through traffic to take the checkers in the second position.   She started the trophy dash on the outside of row two.   She didn't get a great start and settled in to the fourth position where she finished.   Delaney started on the inside of row five for the A-Feature.   According to Charles, she did a great job coming off the back to work her way up through the field.   She continued her charge through a couple of cautions and a red flag for the 7 car--(Morgan flipped down the back stretch after making contact with another car--thankfully she was okay) to a fourth place finish.   Even taking the checkers was eventful as Delaney got into the back of the 19 car coming to the flag as he apparently lost power and Delaney had no where to go and effectively pushed the 19 across the finish line!

May 19

Another strong weekend of racing for Delaney!   She went out for her heat race on the inside of row three with   five cars in the field.   She worked her way up through the field to get to the rear bumper of the pole sitter on the white flag lap making several attempts to pass the leader but didn't have enough   time and took the checkers in second place.   Delaney started the trophy dash on the outside of row two and again worked her way up to the leader on the white flag lap and was unable to complete the pass to finish in the second position.   She went out for the A-Feature on the inside of row five with eleven cars in the field.   The pack was running together for several laps and at times getting four-wide, Delaney got bumped up and nearly got into the wall.   After the first caution, and getting lined up in single file, things settled down and Delaney found herself in eight place.   This was her opportunity to make her march to the front and after taking over second place, it only left the leader.   She was running down the leader as the laps clicked off and again found herself needing one more lap to take the lead, but ending up finishing second.   Delaney is continuing to improve every weekend and we are real proud of her and what she has accomplished so far this season!!

May 26

Mother nature affected this weekend's racing.   Delaney went out for her heat race on the inside of the third row with rain threatening.   The motor gave her fits as it wouldn't run properly.   She worked hard and managed to salvage a fourth place finish.   Charles went to work to clean the carbs up in hopes to clear the problem.   With help from Greg (#7 Morgan's Dad), they were able to get it running   much better.   Thanks a bunch Greg for the help!   Unfortunately the weather came and the races were called for rain just prior to the start of Delaney's A-Feature.   Dad gets home this week...we know Charles will be ready to handover the crew chief duties!

Jun 2

Delaney had an okay weekend...not the results we'd like, but given the track conditions and the crew chief change (Dad's on probation now   :) ) she did pretty well.   She went out for the make-up A-Feature on the outside of row five with eleven cars in the field.   The track was already dry after the hot laps which set the stage for the rest of the night.   Delaney got a good start moved her way up through the field on track that was very tough to pass on.   She was working hard to get by the fourth place car but ran out of laps and took the checkers in the fifth position.   She went out for her heat race on the inside of row four with seven cars in the heat.   She started picking them off one-by-one and managed to avoid a near wreck to pick up two more positions but didn't have enough laps to get to the leader to come home in the second position.   She started the trophy dash on the outside of row two.   The car was hooked up but she wasn't able to get by the 2nd & 3rd place cars as they ran side-by-side for most of the five laps preventing Delaney from advancing despite many attempts to pass she came home in the fourth position. Delaney started the final A-Feature on the outside of row six with fourteen cars in the field.   She got a great start quickly moving up through the field into the the 8th position on the first lap.   She continued her march to the front picking up the seventh position by the fifth lap and was reeling in the sixth place car when she got into turn three pretty hard and was working hard to save it on a very dry slick bottom of the track when the steering locked up and she spun to bring out the caution.   She got the steering unlocked and restarted on the back.   She drove hard but the track wasn't helping and she was only able to get up to tenth before the checkers flew.   Delaney learned some things and is extremely determined to come back strong next week!

Jun 8

This was a make-up race for the rain out night earlier in May.   Delaney had a great night of racing!   She started on the inside of row three with six cars in her heat.     She made a strong move to the outside going into turn one on the start powering to third place.   She was able to pass the second place car with the next couple of laps and was running down the pole sitter/leader who had checked out, but just didn't have enough laps to really challenge for the lead and settled for second place.   She went out on the outside of row two for the trophy dash.   Delaney made a power move on the high side going into turn one and took the lead coming off turn two and never looked back to take home the trophy dash WIN!!   She went out for the A-Feature on the inside of row five with twelve cars in the field.     She picked up a couple of positions choosing to take the inside line through turns 1&2.   She battled back and forth with the 8 car   with the 8 car prevailing as they both worked their way through traffic.   By lap eight, she had worked her way up to the third position.   She held that position as she and the 8 & 22 battled for the top position remaining within a few car lengths of each other.   Something broke on the 8 car who was leading at the time moving Delaney up to the 2nd position.   We were too loose and she wasn't able to mount a serious challenge to the 22 car for the lead, but as the laps wound down, she was reeled in by the 77 car and they waged a great race for three laps before the 77 completed the pass coming to the white flag and Delaney took the checkers in the third position.   A strong showing by the driver, an improved showing her crew chief!   She took a car that wasn't perfect and managed   an excellent finish!!

Jun 9

Delaney continues her string of strong performances with another one tonight!   Delaney went out on the inside of row three with six cars in the field for the heat race.   She made her move going into turn one passing a couple of cars but just couldn't make it stick forcing her to lift and loose some momentum.   Sometimes thing happen for a reason because as she was trailing the pack, the 42 car got into the 8 and 32 forcing both of them into the wall bring out the red.   Both drivers were okay but not able to continue.   The 42 car was black flagged for rough driving, so with only three cars left, Delaney lined up on the back for the restart.   She got a great start diving to the bottom, but apparently it was too good of a start as the yellow came out because she had jumped the start by passing before the cone.   It looked like a good pass to me, but Delaney said she was clearly past him prior to the cone.   On the next restart, the 37 was ready and closed the door on her pass attempt and it took her another lap to pass him and now the leader was a full straightaway ahead of her.   She continued to move her line around to get to the leader, but just not enough laps to get it done ending up in second place.   She lined up on the outside of row two for the trophy dash.     All four cars were strong and stayed in a pack for the first lap as Delaney fell into the fourth position.   She was able to pick up one position, but never really challenged for the win to come home in third place.   She went out on the inside of row five for the A-Feature with eleven cars in the field.   After a bad start the race was restarted again and Delaney hugged the bottom through 1&2 passing a couple of cars and as the pack came into turn three, the 8 car slid up the track into the 7 car and collecting two other cars.   The 8 & 7 cars both ending up on their lids, but were okay and able to continue.   Not having completed a lap, the entire field was restarted two-by-two, however, Delaney now was on the inside of row three as those involved with wreck restarted on the back.     As the green flag dropped, Delaney was able to slowly pick up a couple of positions while fending off several challenges by the 8 car.   Now in the third position, she set her sights on the second place car.   She closed the gap and was looking to make the pass when the 22 car got sideways in the middle of 3&4.   Delaney chose to take the high side to avoid her, stayed in the gas and rode the cushion around the top nearly collecting the wall on the exit of turn four.   She was now second and fifteen car lengths or more to the leader.   Delaney continued to search for the fastest way around the track and finally decided the top was the place to be.   She closed up to the bumper of the leader with three to go, had a great run off of turn two and decided to attempt the pass on the inside going into turn 3.   It didn't work and she lost some ground.   She was able to get back to the leader but not enough laps to make the pass to finish in the second position.   Another great driving effort on her part!!!

Jun 16

Delaney continues to demonstrate her development as a driver.   She went out on the outside of row three for her heat with six cars in the field.   The track was tacky and fast.   She made a strong move going into turn one to complete the pass of two cars exiting turn two.   She then set her sights on the third place car.   She was able to close the gap and made her move on the top side to take over the third position.   She was able to close the gap on the leaders but never really challenged either of them.   She went out for the A-Feature on the inside of row five with eleven cars in the field.   The track initially looked like it would still have some grip, it didn't and with no time to adjust for it, she was handed a car that was going to be very loose.   On the start, the pack headed into turn one three-wide.     Delaney chose to hang back through turns 1&2.   Coming off two, she picked up the pace going into turn three expecting it to stick...it didn't.   She spun by herself...got restarted and spotted the field half of a lap.   She spent the next nine laps catching the back of the field, once there, she worked her way through traffic all the way up to the fourth position at the checkers.   An awesome job making a ill-handling car work....moving to the front!!!

Jun 22

We ventured off our home track for the first time in the restrictor to visit Will Rogers Raceway in Claremore, OK.   Delaney started her heat race on the outside of row three.   She was able to quickly secure the fifth position but battled with two cars for five laps.   She was able to clear one of the cars and would dive in hard on the bottom to pass the second car, but wasn't able to hold it and would give up both positions exiting turn two.   After several attempts, she decided to try it on the high side going into turn one.   It turned out to be a good choice.   She had just cleared the fourth place car, when the second place car spun and collected the third place car.   Delaney brushed the back stretch wall avoiding the melee.   She restarted in the second position on a green-white-checker finish.   The leader got a good jump and she wasn't able to really challenge for the lead to take second place.   She went out on the outside of row six with twelve cars in the field for the A-Feature.   She approached the 30-lap feature cautiously for about a half of a lap.   She attempted to pass two cars on going into turn one on the low side.   She completed the pass only to give them up on the next lap.   The pack separated into two distinct packs.   Delaney spent the next thirteen laps navigating her way through the trailing pack of cars.   Once she cleared that pack she set her sights on the lead pack and spent the next ten laps closing the gap.   By lap twenty-three she was on the bumper of the number 97 car who was in sixth place.   He proved to be a tough cookie to pass.   They both managed to pass another car moving her into the fifth position.   The   97 made things difficult for her and   she was clearly faster, but when she tried to pass him low, he would pinch her down and when she would try to pass   him high, he would run her up to the wall.   It was a good battle.   Delaney's only option would have been to hold her position and potentially take them both out, she chose to be a good sport and take a solid fifth place finish home.   Another outstanding effort on her part!!!   We had fun and a great experience!

Jun 23

We were rained out at I-44.   Make up is on Friday, 29 Jun.

Jun 29,

Well, we we're rained out for our make-up at I-44 so we decided to run at WRR again.   Got a late start, got there in time to run hot laps before the rain hit.   Dumped a bunch of rain, took nearly two and half hours to get the track ready to race again.   For the heat race, Delaney went out on the inside of row three with five cars in her heat.   The track was a single groove track making passing nearly impossible.   She was able to pass one car, but wasn't able to move forward as she tried for all she was worth to get around the third place car without much luck to finish in the fourth position.   She started the A-Feature on the inside of row six with eleven cars in the field.   The track was much better for the features.   She quickly worked her way up through the field.   She was able to run both the high line and the low line and used both effectively to move up to the fifth position with fifteen to go in the 30-lap race.   She was now behind the same car she struggled with during the heat race.   She could get side-by-side with him coming off four only to be pinched off going into turn one.   She then tried the high line only to be run up to the wall coming off turn two.   Finally, she got a great run off turn four and she was able to nudge in front of him going into turn one.   She wasn't able to completely hold it on the bottom through the middle of one & two, slide up the track, getting together with the 70 car forcing him up and over the cushion.   Having finally cleared the 70 car, she set her sights on the third place car with seven to go.   She was able to close the distance to a car-length coming to the white flag, but not able to close the deal, coming home in fourth place.   A great effort by Delaney coming off the back!!!

Jun 30,

We did get to race at I-44 despite all the rain we've gotten.   She went out on the outside of row three with seven cars in the heat.   She got a good start making short work of two cars in front her moving into the fourth position.   She continued her move to the front by getting by the third place car and set her sights on the second place car who had checked out with the leader.   Delaney worked hard to reel her in and was there coming to the white flag.   Delaney set herself up to attempt the pass coming into turn three.   The 7 car   got a little loose going into turn three opening the door for Delaney.   The 7 car gathered it back up and powered off turn four with Delaney charging on the inside.   They were wheel-to-wheel coming to the checkered flag with the 7 car nosing out Delaney for second place forcing Delaney to settle for third.   Delaney went out on the outside of row six for the A-Feature with sixteen car in the field.   She again demonstrated where she has improved the most this year--the starts.   She threaded the needle down the front stretch as they got four-wide with Delaney on the outside.   She was right up against the wall taking the high line going into turn one.   A move than allowed her to pick up five positions coming off turn two.   She was hooked up and moving to the front.   She had just taken over the third position when the red flag came out when 77 car flipped in turn one (he was okay, but not able to continue).   After the track was cleared back to yellow, we made a small adjustment to loosen her up just a little.   She was fast on the top through one & two and on the bottom through three   & four.   With thirteen laps to go, she got a good restart and powered   pass the second place car using the high line through one & two to move into second place with ten to go.   The leader had checked out as   she battled with the second place car.   As she was closing on the leader, she was forced to check up for a car that had pulled off into the in-field for a couple of laps and then finally got going only to enter the track between the leader and Delaney.   The top had slicked off through one & two and   she continued to work the top.   She would gain on the leader on the bottom through three & four, and lose ground on the top through one & two.   She was also contending with the lapped car between her and the leader.   She was never really able to mount a challenge for the lead through the final five laps to take the checkers in the second position for her twelfth top five in fourteen A-Features this year!!!   She has done an awesome job and we are all very proud of her!!!

Jul 14,

We had an interesting night at the track this last weekend.   Delaney started on the inside of row four for her heat race with seven cars in the field.   When the green flag waived the pole sitter didn't get going so Delaney dove to the inside as they all exited turn four.   She passed four cars as they entered turn one.   She worked for a couple of laps to finally clear the second place car.   She closed the gap on the leader with two to go.   She made a strong move to the inside as they entered turn three but wasn't able to stay on the bottom and she was forced to lift to keep from getting into the leader as they came to the white flag.   She gathered it back up for one more attempt as they came back to turn three, she again tried to use the bottom   to make the pass, but just couldn't complete it to take the checkers in the second position.   She went out on the outside of the front row for the trophy dash.   The pole sitter used all the track as they came off of turn four to take the green, running Delaney right up to the wall forcing her to lift to avoid the wall.   She got right back after it, but the damage had already been done as she wasn't able to close the gap to once again finish second.   She went out on the inside of row seven with fourteen cars in the field for the A-Feature.   As she has done all year, she made a strong move on the start, charging on the inside going into turn one and drew even with the car in front of her, but this time the 77 car didn't give her much racing room.   She clipped the second tire marking the inside boundary in the turn 1&2.   This caused her to go airborne and cartwheel 2-3 times before finally coming to rest on her side.   Delaney's safety gear again worked to perfection as she was able to unbuckle and get out of the car with nothing more than some soreness in her right arm.   She was ready to go racing if we would have been able to fix the car in the five minutes following the red flag.   However, the car sustained significant damage to both the front and rear axels.   Amazingly, the only damage to the wing was caused when it came to rest on it's side.   We'll be ready to go racing next weekend!!

Jul 21,

Tough weekend at the track.   The track was not in good racing shape.   It was dry and rough with lots of ruts and holes.   Delaney started on the outside of row three for her heat with six cars in the field.   She was able to pick up two positions to settle into fourth place.   She mounted a slight challlenge for the third spot, but the track made it difficult to pass and she come home in the fourth position.   Delaney started the A-Feature on the inside of row six with twelve cars in the field.   She made a strong move on the inside on the start, but got squeezed   and was forced to lift.   She closed back up to take the eleventh spot and started working on the tenth.   She was able to clear the 70 car to take over tenth.   She was looking to take the ninth position coming off turn two when something broke on the 37 car and several cars got jammed up.   Delaney got into the back of the 37 car and then tapped the wall, but continued and the 37 car was able to get off the track as racing continued.   With the 37 car off the track, Delaney moved up to the ninth position and had ground to make up.   She passed the 32 car who had fallen back to take over the eighth spot.   She got to the bumper of the 88 but could never really make a challenge for the seventh spot to take the checkers in the eighth position.

Jul 28,

Racing is a funny sport....one weekend, nothing goes right, the next you are on top of the world!   Delaney had a great weekend!!   We changed out the carburaters this week....it made a big difference.   She went out on the inside of row three with seven cars in the field for her heat race.   It was a tough heat with three of the top five in points in the field as well as a visitor who has multiple wins at other tracks.   Delaney made a move to the inside going into turn one that resembled the one she made when she flipped a couple of weeks ago...she clipped the first tire but she managed to save it but lost ground to the pack.   After gathering it back up, she charged back, picking them off one by one.   She was clearly fast, but not enough laps to get to the front to come home in the third position.   She lined up for the A-Feature on the outside of row five with fourteen cars in the field.   She got a good start, seeing an opening in the middle going into turn one she was able to pick up two spots pretty quickly.   She continued her charge to the front, running wheel to wheel in heavy traffic as she worked her way up to the fifth position when the yellow flag came out for a spin in turn three.   She was forced back two spots on the restart to the seventh position.   She quickly got her two spots back as we went back racing...she was working hard on the fourth place car....a little too hard as she had a run on him going into turn three...he got loose and she got into the back of him as they entered turn four...the collision knocked the steering wheel out of her hand the front wheels were point directly to the right...she gathered it back up and managed to stay off the wall.   She was trailing the fourth place car going into turn one and again he got loose spinning out and bringing out the caution.   Delaney stayed high and cleared him, moving her into the fourth position.   She was able to   take over the third place car shortly after the restart and started working on the second place car who was racing hard with the leader.     Delaney was racing side by side with the second place car as they closed on the leader.   The second place car made a move to the outside as   Delaney made hers to the inside of the leader.     The leader got loose and started to spin...Delaney was on the inside and tapped the leader as he was spinning...effectively straightening him out, however; the leader collected the second place car forcing him to spin bringing out the third caution.   Delaney was put back in the second position on the restart and got a good jump on the leader as they entered turn three.   She made her move to the inside nearly passing too early...but avoided getting penalized.   She took the lead as the exited turn four with six laps to go.   From there it was up to her to hit her marks and avoid the lapped traffic.   Over the last six laps,   she continued to open up her lead to the checkers for her second win of the season!!!!   Delaney did an awesome job working her way through traffic!!!   Great job!!!

Aug 4,

This weekend was the I-44 Nationals.   There were 32 cars entered for the Restrictor Division with cars from Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska.   Starting positions for the heat races were determined by a draw.   We drew probably the toughest heat of the four heats.   Delaney started the first heat on the outside of the front row with eight cars in the field.   The track was still tacky as she settled into the second position going into turn one on the start.   She was a bit loose and not really able to mount a challenge for the lead and finished the 10-lap event in second place.   She went out for her second heat (the field is inverted from the first heat)   lined up on the inside of row four.   By now, the track had slicked off and passing was difficult.   The start wasn't very good as the inside row didn't go when the green flag waived.   Delaney fought her way through traffic up to the fourth position and was closing up on the third place car when they took the checkered flag.   She didn't earn enough points to make the trophy dash which is where the top six in points raced to determine the first three rows in the A-Feature.   For the A-Feature, she lined up on the outside of row five with 20 cars in the field for a 50-lap race.   The track had very little grip and would make it difficult to pass.   Delaney, the 222, and the 29 car wagged a 50 lap battle with no one gaining more than a 2-3 car lenth separation.   They raced hard for the entire 50 laps as they   passed each other only to swap   back as they rubbed   on each other.   Delaney was extremely loose and did a great job of holding on to her position.   After a red flag with twelve laps to go, we tried to tighten the car up, but it was too little to late.   The car was better but not good enough to advance her position.   We had a lot of fun and we were able to load up the car in piece which is always a good night!!   Dad still needs a little work on getting the setup right for Delaney....I guess it's a work in progress!   We'll be ready to go next Sat night!   Although the winner wasn't a I-44 regular, the I-44 regulars did very well putting a total of eleven cars in the 20-car A-Feature, six finished in the top 10, and four young ladies from I-44 placed in the top eight!!

Aug 11,

Only nine cars showed up for tonight's race as many were in Tulsa for the Non-Wing Nationals.   With only nine cars in the field, we ran only one heat.   Delaney started on the outside of row four for the heat race.   After two false starts, Delaney worked on the bottom to pass the 22 car coming off turn two they raced down the back stretch.   As they entered turn three, Delaney had the position   on the bottom, but the 22 didn't give her much racing room and if fact, tried to close the door.   They got together and both spun bringing out the caution.   Not completing a lap forced a full restart.   Delaney again went to the inside entering turn one, but wasn't able to close the deal losing some ground.   She closed back up and attempted to pass the 22 car on the outside as they came off turn four side-by-side, but this time the 22 attempted to take the high line away from Delaney forcing her to lift or get run into the wall.   Delaney again closed back up on the 22 and this time completed the pass going into turn one, moving her into the fourth position.   Having to spend so much time dealing with 22, she wasn't able to advance her position taking the checkers in fourth place.   Delaney went out for the Trophy Dash on the outside of row two.   She was able to quickly pass the third place car and within two laps took over second place, but wasn't able to close on the leader to finish in second place.   She went out on the outside of row four again for the A-Feature.   The outside pole sitter failed to start moving Delaney up to the third row on the start.   She was able to clear the 22 car on the start, moving her into the fifth position.   She was able to make a pass on the 8 car to take over fourth place and was closing on the 77 but just didn't have enough laps as the race was shortened to 15 laps.   The track was similar to last weekend and we made some progress in our car setup, but we still need to get better.   Delaney did a great job maintaining her composure and just raced hard and clean.   She continues to make us so very proud of her with her actions both on and off the track!

Aug 24,

Delaney makes the news!!   Mr. John Banks, who is a sports writer with the Tinker Take Off--the base newspaper, came to the track on August 11th to do a story on Delaney.   The article appeared in this weeks addition of the paper.   As soon as it is posted to the web site, I'll post a link to the story.   It was a well done story and   we are very proud of her and all she has accomplished!!

Well it seems like it has been along time since we last raced, but it was only two weeks.   The break offered an opportunity to detect a faulty part that was robbing power from the motor and we have no idea how long it had been not working.   Delaney went out on the inside of row three for her heat race with six cars in the heat.   She made a strong move on the start to the outside to move into the fourth position as the entered turn one.   She then split the second and third place cars through turns one and two taking over the second place position as they exited turn two.   She was able to close up on the leader as they exited turn four and made an attempt to pass the leader as they entered turn one, but wasn't able to close the deal.   She stayed on the leader's bumper as they exited turn two and pulled even as they went down the back stretch.   Owning the inside positon, she was able to close the deal and take the lead from which she never looked back to win her heat!   For the trophy dash, she went out on the outside of row two.   She got a good start, taking over the third position and closing in on second place.   She was able to complete that pass as well, but the pole sitter/leader had checked out.   She was able to get to his back bumper as the entered turn three coming to the white flag.   As they exited turn four, she was trying to get under him, but could get it done.   She was able to get back to the leader's back bumper again, but didn't have the passing opportunity and settled for second place.   She went out on the inside of row four for the A-Feature with twelve cars in the field.   On the start, she made a strong move to clear two cars, but the yellow came out as the pole sitter apparently jumped the start.   The got lined back up for the restart and the original pole sitter was sent to the back, but the second row inside car never moved forward as they went back racing.   Delaney didn't get a great start, but started moving her way forward finally settling into the fourth position.   Dad missed the set up badly and the car was wicked loose if she got off the bottom at all.   She was starting to loose ground on the front three and was being challenged by the 77 when the yellow came out for a spin in turn four.   While under yellow, I motioned to her to stay on the bottom and she acknowledged it.   On the restart, she jumped to the bottom and the car hooked up so hard, she wasn't expecting it and got into the back of the 7 car.   In an attempt not to hit the 7 car, she slammed on the brakes and spinning herself.   She kept the car going, collected a tire and continued on but now was all the way back to twelth with five to go.   She managed to work her way back up to seventh before the checkers came out.   She did an outstanding job salvaging a solid finish with a very loose race car!

Oct 13,

Well, I thought I would give you a quick summary of our last month of racing.   We didn't have much racing luck down the stretch.   We struggled a little bit with car setup   as the tracks started   to maintain it's moisture and remained tacky throughout the night.   We were only able to manage two sevenths and second place finish in the A-Features, and then we hit on a setup that worked very well.   Our first night on the track with that setup was 15 Sep.   Delaney started on the outside of the sixth row and promptly went to the front.   She had moved all the way up to the fourth position at the half-way point and was clearly the fastest car on the track.     She was continuing her move to the front when the second place car got sideways in turns 3 & 4 collecting the third place car and leaving her nowhere to go.   The impact snapped the left front wheel completely off and officially ending our night.   The fifthteenth place finish took us from a 38 point lead to a 8 point deficit with four points races to go.   The next Friday night the same car that got sideways the week before, did the same thing and again collected Delaney with her ending up on her side and the other car on his lid.   We got Delaney uprighted and she was ready to racing....restarted eleventh on a single file restart.   She worked her way all the way up to third at the checkers.   The next night was pretty clean as Delaney worked her way from the outside fourth row starting position all the way up to 2nd place and nearly pulled off the win.   She closed on the leader with three to go...had a great run off two and into three pulling up to the bumper as they came into three.   The leader closed the door as the went through four,   but Delaney had a good run on him and she got into him slightly, but lifted and allowed him to gather it back up as they came to the white flag.   She made one more attempt but came up just short as he was expecting her inside and closed the door again.   We finished the weekend still down 8 points.   The final point weekend brought some additional challenges.   On Thursday night while prepping the car, it wasn't running well at all.   We discovered we had a dead cylinder requiring an engine change....we didn't have a spare engine.   Fortunately, our good friend, Joey Rossario heard of our predicament and offered up a spare motor he had and his help to get the engine change done.   By race time we were ready to go racing.   We drew for starting spots and ended up in the same heat as the points leader.   The points leader won the heat and Delaney finished second.   During the trophy dash, Delaney got squeezed and wrecked and ended up fourth.   After some repairs, she started on the outside of row two for the A-Feature.   The track wasn't as tacky as it had been and the bottom was the only place with grip.   I told Delaney get a good, clean start and work the bottom.   She did that for the first 5-7 laps as she settled into third place.   She was losing ground to the leaders, so she moved up to try that line.   It didn't work as she lost more ground, but when the caution came out when the leader spun in turn four, I motioned for her to stay on the bottom.   The car came to life and the race leader/points leader and Delaney put an a great show as Delaney challenged her for the next several laps, but with five to go and Delaney completing the pass as they exited turn four, the caution came out putting her back to second place.   Delaney again mounted a strong challenge and with each lap got closer and closer to completing the pass. As they came to the white flag, Delaney had the inside position going into turn one, with Shayla coming back on the outside.   They were even off two, with Delaney holding a slight advantage as they entered three.   Shayla had the momentum as they went through the turn and Delaney had the lead but wasn't able to hold off Shayla for the win.   It was less than two feet difference between the two of them....essentially, that was the championship.   The next night was was less eventful.   Our goal for the night was to win and control what we could control.   We accomplished our goal for the night, but not for the season.   Delaney started outside front row and took the lead on the start and never looked back.   She was clearly determined to win the race!   We are extremely proud of her and everything she accomplished this season!   She showed great class, character,   and sportsmanship!   She never gave up even when everything seemed to be working against us.   No one faced more hurdles than she did throughout this year!   Again, we owe a great debt of gratitude to Charles and Wade Jarvis, Tony Pressley, and Joey Rossario for all their support this season!!!
